Turkey Hill Farm sits on a beautiful hilltop in Haverhill, MA. Their main commodity is Christmas trees. People come from miles around to tag and cut their own trees at the farm every winter from over 12 acres of perfectly manicured trees. In the summer they run a pick-your-own operation with blueberries, raspberries and flowers.
Dave Butt bought the land in the late 1970s and began clearing it and planting trees in his off-hours from his job at an insurance company. In 1988 he began farming full time, and ran the farm until 2015. The new owner is his daughter, Diane. Diane loves the work but loves her customers even more. She’s always delighted by their enjoyment of the trees and fruit!
We were able to gather a small haul of stones from around the farm. We mostly picked from already established piles, but did pull a few smaller stones from a patch of freshly tilled ground. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time learning about the farm from Dave and Diane!
