Why A Choose Stone Cheese Boards

My stone cheese board is a great choice for almost any occasion. As a wedding gift that symbolizes longevity and stability, as a piece of New England for someone proud of their connection to this soil, or as a simply beautiful and usefully elegant object that will stand the test of time.

Cheese Temperature Inertia
Stone’s natural thermal properties offer ideal serving temperatures. Either helps warm cold cheese to full flavor profile or starts cold for soft cheese in the summer.
Easy to Clean & Non-Porous
Unlike wood, stone won’t absorb odors or stains. Also safe to cut on. Simply hand wash with warm soap water. Water beads right off like glass.
Elegant Presentation
Natural stone creates a sophisticated backdrop that elevates any cheese selection and impresses guests.
More Durable Than Wood
Stone withstands decades of use without cracking, warping, or showing wear like wooden alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Get answers to common questions about our Stone Cheese Boards

1. What makes a stone cheese board unique?
Stone cheese boards are made from natural fieldstones I harvest at working farms. After I am done cutting and polishing, they are a non-porous surface perfect for serving cheeses, charcuterie, and fruits. They’re durable, elegant, and elevate your presentation. But what makes them particularly unique, and why some sell for much more than others, is that some stones are very unusual and unlike anything I have ever seen before. The Northeastern United States has a lot of really uniform granite colors and a much smaller selection of highly colorful and much more treasured metamorphic stones.
2. Are stone cheese boards food-safe?
Yes, all of our boards are handcrafted and sealed to be 100% food-safe. Unlike wood, stone doesn’t absorb bacteria, odors, or stains.
3. Can I personalize or engrave my stone cheese board?
Absolutely! We offer custom engraving options for names, dates, or initials. It makes a perfect personalized gift.
4. How heavy are stone cheese boards?
Depending on the size and stone type, boards typically weigh between 2 to 7 pounds. They’re sturdy yet easy to handle. Check the sizing tab for the exact weight of the board you are considering.
5. Do your boards come with cheese knives or accessories?
Cheese boards are sold without any included cheese knives to allow you to customize your service or presentation to your exact preferences. Some other products do come with accessories, so please check the product details for what’s included.
6. Do I heat or chill a stone cheese board?
Yes! You can chill it in the fridge or freezer before serving to keep food cold longer. Some boards can tolerate low heat, less than 125 degrees, but above this and the silicon feet may become susceptible to falling off.
7. Are stone cheese boards dishwasher-safe?
No. We recommend hand-washing with mild soap and warm water. Some customers do use the dishwasher but the feet will come off in the high temperatures and over time you may get chemical stains from the detergents in your dishwasher appliance.
8. What types of cheese work best on a stone board?
Stone boards are ideal for all cheese types—soft cheeses like brie, semi-soft like gouda, or hard aged cheeses like cheddar and parmesan.
9. Can I cut cheese directly on the board?
Yes! Stone boards are strong enough for direct cutting and will resist scratches better than wood or plastic. My smooth polished boards are also different from competing slate boards, which can flake off slate chips into your food.
10. Do you offer gift wrapping or packaging?
Yes, my products ship with gift packaging at no additional charge. Pricing is never included in shipments, and you can also request a custom note card with a message to your recipient if you are shipping directly to them. You are also welcome to request additional services if needed, such as holding to ship at a certain date, etc.
