Hi, I’m Gerald, the artisan and founder of the craft studio American Stonecraft ®. Thank you for exploring a unique, 1 of 1 Trivet I handcrafted in Lowell, Massachusetts. The trivet is quite similar to my Charcuterie Board, although generally smaller, and with a matte, honed finish to the top surface rather than the food-safe finish of the Charcuterie Board. It has a subtle, calming aesthetic, and the quicker time to finish one keeps the price quite reasonable.

The stone came from the place listed in the title, and the exact dimensions are found in the sizing tab below. Each wood slat is 3″ wide for scale.

It is safe for hot casseroles, to chill in the freezer, or to use as a coaster, below plants, or with candles. The polish is a subtle, honed, less glossy finish than the Charcuterie Board, making for a gorgeous, calm aesthetic. One idea idea related to its thermal properties, is that the mass of your room temperature trivet will help to speed the defrosting time of frozen food, particularly if you sandwich the item between two stones.

I think of each piece as functional art and Chinese culture considers stones to be concentrations of energy and life, objects of contemplation and worship, microcosms of heaven and earth. (Kernels of Energy, Bones of Earth, 1986). I wholeheartedly agree!
