Mending Wall Day is an annual event started in 2015 by your friends at American Stonecraft. We named it in honor of Robert Frost’ poem “Mending Wall”. It is a half day of community service that aims to increase cultural awareness of stonewalls by inviting our neighbors to come together and tend to fieldstone walls in visible public settings. Our third annual Mending Wall Day will take place in Boston at Bussey Brook Meadow for the second year in a row. We will complete the wall along South Street that we began last year. This is an opportunity to celebrate our rocky farmland, stonewalls, and community; all of which are defining characteristics of New England. Click here to see photos from Mending Wall Day 2016.

Mending Wall Day 2017

Saturday, April 15, 2017 9am – 12:30pm

We invite you to get out and enjoy fresh spring air and lend a hand to help clean up around the stonewall. All ages and ability levels are welcome. Participants must check-in and sign a waiver upon arrival. More ambitious attendees will also conduct light repairs to the wall itself, from which others will be trimming vines and brush, collecting litter, and re-stacking loose stones. At the closing of the day, we will conduct a raffled of a beautiful local New England fieldstone Food Slab. Your participation in Mending Wall Day 2017 will get you entered into a raffle to win a gift from American Stonecraft!
