Lowell was one of the first planned industrial cities of the United States, specializing the production of textiles. Nicknamed ‘The Mill City’, Lowell’s official motto on the city seal is “Art is the Handmaid of Human Good.” The city is now home to the largest community of artists in the country per capita. My first location was on Payne Street alongside a historic granite-lined canal built in the 1800s. In October 2013 I moved to the Bleachery neighborhood of Back Central, close to a brook and waterfall feeding into the Concord River.
