Appleton Farms is one of the oldest continuously operating farms in the country. It was established in 1936 by Samuel Appleton, growing vegetables, corn and hay. Since then, the farm has been maintained by nine generations of the Appleton family! You can see New England’s agricultural history in the historic farm buildings and stone walls around the property.
In addition to fresh vegetables and hay, Appleton Farms now raises animals including cows, goats, pigs and chickens. The animals are fed natural diets and waste is composted in the fields. The farmers are bringing fresh food to the community with their pick-you-own events, CSA program, and Dairy & Farm Store that offers milk, cheese, beef and eggs from their own animals and other other locally-sourced products.
We recommend visiting Appleton Farms for a relaxing, bucolic experience. They have six miles of walking trails and picnic areas open daily to the public, and a variety of educational programs for all ages.
